Each year RECON selects local charities as beneficiaries of our fund raising efforts. This year, the Silicon Valley Chapter of RECON Networking has committed themselves to supporting Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley and the work they do. As such, all excess proceeds from the Chapter will be donated to Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley. Members can also give directly. RECON will continue accepting donations on behalf of Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley throughout 2014 via our online registration system. Already we have raised $2,000 for material and supplies for the April 26th Rebuilding Day.
Since their establishment in 1991, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley has renovated over 1800 homes and community facilities. Their work preserves affordable housing by transforming homes and lives through critical repairs, accessibility modifications and energy efficient upgrades for low-income homeowners and community centers, at no cost to the service recipient. The majority of the low-income homeowners they serve are elderly seniors and/or people with disabilities, who are physically and financially unable to maintain safe and warm living conditions for themselves and their families. Their impact extends beyond the individuals served to revitalize and stabilize vulnerable neighborhoods in our community.
